Gregg Gillis, better known by the stage name Girl Talk, has decided to let YOU create the entire guest list for a show. Girl Talk has teamed up with BacardiPlus® to offer you the chance to host your own concert. All you need to do is sign up for the “Girl Talk Town Takeover” and complete social actions to be entered into the contest to have him play a show for you and 200 of your closest friends. If you win, Girl Talk will come to your town and you get complete control over the guest list for a show. The contest runs through August 8th.
Gillis started messing around with mash-ups and samples while in high school in Pennsylvania. He has a degree in biomedical engineering and actually worked as an engineer before focusing solely on music creation. He has released five full length records of mashups with his most recent work being 2010’s All Day. He has sampled artists from a multitude of genres ranging from James Taylor and Black Sabbath to more obvious choices like Ludacris and Busta Rhymes. The opening track to All Day, entitled “Oh No,” starts by combining Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” and Ludacris’ “Move Bitch” with Ozzy and Luda’ trading lyrics.
